The Marantz CINEMA 70s S2 delivers the features of a modern AV receiver in a slim enclosure that fits easily into a variety of entertainment spaces. Its discrete 7-channel amplification delivers 50 W per channel into 8 ohms and supports a 7.2-channel surround sound configuration with two subwoofer outputs.
Despite its compact design, it supports immersive audio technologies, 8K video, multi-room music streaming and a range of gaming features. Its 7.2-channel preamp outputs also allow integration into a system using external power amplifiers.
Compatible with Dolby Atmos, Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital Plus, DTS:X and DTS-HD, the CINEMA 70s S2 creates an enveloping soundstage for movies, TV shows, music and video games. Dolby Atmos Height Virtualization and DTS Virtual:X can also create a sense of height and immersion with a variety of speaker configurations.
Multi-Channel Stereo mode distributes music throughout the entire system, while Pure Direct mode reduces unnecessary processing to preserve audio signal fidelity.
The CINEMA 70s S2 is now equipped with Audyssey MultEQ XT, which analyzes the acoustic characteristics of the room and adjusts speaker performance to suit the listening environment. Audyssey Dynamic EQ helps preserve detail at lower volumes, while Dynamic Volume reduces excessive differences in sound levels between scenes or sources.
The model is also now compatible with Dirac Live through a paid upgrade. This option provides more advanced room correction and system optimization.
Six HDMI inputs let you connect multiple audio-video sources to a single device. Three inputs and the HDMI output support 8K at 60 Hz and 4K at 120 Hz signals with bandwidth of up to 40 Gbps.
The CINEMA 70s S2 supports HDR, HLG, Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and Dynamic HDR, as well as 3D signal passthrough. It can also upscale 1080p and 4K signals up to 8K.
VRR, ALLM and QFT help improve smoothness and responsiveness with compatible games. Newly added AMD FreeSync compatibility also helps reduce screen tearing and stuttering when used with a compatible source and display.
Built-in HEOS technology lets you stream music and group the CINEMA 70s S2 with other compatible HEOS devices in multiple rooms. Wi-Fi, Ethernet, Bluetooth and AirPlay 2 make it easy to listen from a mobile device or home network.
The model supports Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, TuneIn, SiriusXM, Amazon Music, Deezer, iHeartRadio, SoundCloud and Mood Mix. It is also Roon Ready and Roon Tested certified for integration into a compatible Roon environment.
The CINEMA 70s S2 can transmit audio to compatible Bluetooth headphones. Headphone volume can now be controlled directly from the receiver for more convenient personal listening.
An update will also enable connection to compatible Denon Home V2 wireless surround speakers. This feature can make it easier to add rear speakers in rooms where running cables is difficult.
The CINEMA 70s S2 can distribute audio content to two zones. Its assignable speaker terminals can be used for a second zone or a compatible bi-amp configuration.
It includes an MM phono input for a turntable, analog and digital audio inputs, and a front USB port for audio file playback. A rear USB power supply has also been added to power a compatible accessory.
